The wee ones

I have been working on my clues between playing with the wee ones.   Steps 1,2,4 are done.  I am not happy with my pinwheel blocks and I plan on finishing them up when I get home.  This quilt is pretty bright.   I have been working on my baby lock machine and it wants to eat  pointy things ( there was also a tension issue)    I have four more days left here in Fairbanks and then home to Oregon.   I'd love the Facebook page and all of the gorgeous fabrics.  I stuck to Bonnie's colors and love them...   So here is a sampling of my pieces. http://quiltville.blogspot.com/2013/12/mystery-monday-link-up-part-5.html

Since I am working on my baby lock here are my sons house, I have had wee people to work with.  Not sure that we will call me son wee any more but he is still my baby.     The wee ones are Irish on both sides.    This quilt will be for their momma and my wonderful daughterinlaw, Morgan.

Grandma's wee ones.   Bob, my son and his two sons,  Samuel Finneganand Rowan Lee.  Irish ancestors on both sides of them.    I had not seen them since April when Rowan was born and he turned 9 months dec 5th.  Since I have been here he has started to walk and cut some more teeth.   The quilt can be worked on when I get home.   

It's a house with little people

It's a mystery

Thousands of quilters worldwide are participating in the mystery quilt from quiltville this year.   I joined the Facebook page and there are over 2,000 members.   I'm happy to know that I am not the only avid quilter.   Meeting new friends is awesome.   

This week my progress was hampered by the weather.  I have completed almost half of the blocks I need for step 2.

The northwest was hit with a  cold front from the arctic this last week.  We've had freezing temps. And snow. I will be hopeful that the wether forecast for tonight is wrong and we are not under 10 degrees.  It is a cool crisp morning.

Monday

This afternoon on my way home from Albany I noticed this gorgeous rainbow in the large grass field about a mile from home.  I stopped and took a picture.  The colors were really vibrant.   Then the rainbow followed me home.   I thought  of my pot of gold waiting for me - My cute little house and kitties and the sewing shack, which is holding my parts and pieces of Celtic Soltice, that Bonnie Hunter  has designed as a mystery quilt.   Maybe there are some leprechaun's lurking under the Sewing shack.  

Mystical little people who sprinkle a little gold dust as I create new quilts.    After I got home I noticed that there is a double rainbow.  I've been blessed.

Sometimes it is a pain in the butt to get a label made for a quilt.   Yesterday when I was completing the snowman quilt I thought why not use a piece of the shirting fabric that I have been collecting..    I'm not sure whom will get this quilt but. It is now sewn on the back.  I'm cutting some more labels  4"x6".

I did a winter theme row robin swap and did not like some of the rows including miny original.  After some frogging (rip it, rip it), I made this lap quilt.

Waiting and waiting

Since my June graduation I have applied for many jobs here in Oregon.   It is a difficult process.  While waiting, I've been sewing. And sewing and sewing.  One would think I would have ran out of thread by now.  Lol.

I have a 2 drawer file cabinet full of blocks that I have gathered over the years.  With my free time I plan on getting some WIP or UFO projects completed.

This is the first of three sampler quilts.  Putting these together is sometimes challenging and how the math all works out.

A string quilt that I made and cut the blocks in half and utilized  hst of dark blue.  I doubled the amint of blocks for this quilt.

I love fabric.   The tree quilt was designed for my family reunion.  It is stunning and my cousin Yvonne won it at the Pynch family reunion.mthe blue stars represent cousins and uncle that are deceased. My grnd parents had 34 grandchildren.   The log cabin breaks the fmily groups.

The mystery quilt.

I have not posted in a while.   I've been busy.   Finished my college degree in July.   Then there was a trip to Phoenix for 10 days.    The job search is going slow..     and now in my free time,  this is what I have been doing....  Okay  I did  some baking..  

This is my graduation quilt.   FOR ME.   I found this pattern over at the Stitchin Post in April.   All fabrics were from my stash.  Nope I didn't buy anything extra.   I am thinking the stash is shrinking.  hmm.   Still a ways to go yet.  

 

 

 

 A wonderful block swap on the 4inchquiltgroup@yahoo.com .  Nine patches and snowball all 6" blocks.  Yes, another attempt to get the stash under control.    Awesome quilters and friends.  


Next,  I volunteered to make a quilt for the Eugene, Oregon Chapter of Relay for Life.  This was my spring break project  and again -  all  out of my stash.    My friend Veronica is a cancer survivor  and she rocks.   A woman of amazing faith.  

 

 

 

 

In September I took a class that Bonnie Hunter taught,  I was busy for a few days getting all of the blocks done.   This week, is the EVQ meeting and I hope to have the binding on the quilt by then  one more long side.    I bought no fabrics -  a real stash buster here.  lol   Bonnie is an awesome instructor and offers quilters many free patterns.

It is a New Year. I was in Alaska to see the New Year in with my family. However, t his grandma was in bed a tad early and missed lots of fireworks. College started two weeks ago. Twelve credits this term and Monday / Wednesday Schedule. I've had some free time. Here are some of my projects
